தவழும் முழந்தாள்

26 உழந்தாள்நறுநெய் ஓரோதடாவுண்ண *
இழந்தாளெரிவினால் * ஈர்த்துஎழில்மத்தின் *
பழந்தாம்பாலோச்சப் பயத்தால்தவழ்ந்தான் *
முழந்தாள்இருந்தவாகாணீரே முகிழ்முலையீர்!வந்து காணீரே.

Simple Translation

26. This god child (Kannan) ate the fragrant ghee from all the pots that Yashodā had filled with great labor. The irate mother, dragged him (fearing that too much ghee is not good for Him), beat him with an old rope. He crawled away from her with fear. See how he crawled on his knees. O girls with bud-like breasts, come and see this child's knees.

உழந்தாள் — சிரமப்பட்டு பானையில் சேர்த்துவைத்த; நறுநெய் — மணம் மிக்க நெய்யை; ஓரோ தடா — ஒவ்வொரு பானையாக அனைத்தையும்; உண்ண — அமுது செய்ததினால்; இழந்தாள் — பிள்ளையை இழந்துவிடுவோமோ என அச்சமுற்ற தாய்; எரிவினால் ஈர்த்து — எரிச்சலுடன் கையைப்பிடித்து இழுத்து; எழில் மத்தின் — அழகிய மத்தின்; பழந் தாம்பால் ஓச்ச — பழைய கயிறால் அடிக்க எடுக்க; பயத்தால் தவழ்ந்தான் — பயத்தால் தவழ்ந்து சென்ற கண்ணனுடைய; முழந்தாள் இருந்தவா — முழங்கால்களின் அழகைக்; காணீரே — காண வாரீரே!; முகிழ் முலையீர்! — அழகிய பெண்களே!; வந்து காணீரே! — வந்து காண வாரீரே!

uṇṇa — having eaten; naṟunĕy — the fragrant clarified butter; oro taṭā — in one pot after another; uḻantāl̤ — that were stored with a lot of effort; iḻantāl̤ — Yashoda became anxious about losing her child; ĕriviṉāl īrttu — being frustrated, she pulled His hands; paḻan tāmpāl occa — and to discipline Him she grabbed a rope of; ĕḻil mattiṉ — a beautiful churner; payattāl tavaḻntāṉ — then Krishna crawled in fear; mukiḻ mulaiyīr! — o beautiful women!; kāṇīra — come to see!; muḻantāl̤ iruntavā — the beauty of His knees; vantu kāṇīre! — come and observe!
