வாசுதேவனின் கண்கள்

38 விண்கொளமரர்கள் வேதனைதீர * முன்
மண்கொள்வசுதேவர்தம் மகனாய் வந்து *
திண்கொளசுரரைத் தேயவளர்கின்றான் *
கண்கள்இருந்தவாகாணீரே கனவளையீர்! வந்துகாணீரே.

Simple Translation

38. To remove the suffering of the gods in the heavens He (Kannan) was born as the son of Vasudevan. He grows up to destroy the mighty Asuras. Come and see His eyes, O girls! wearing beautiful golden bangles, come and see His eyes. Come and see.

விண் கொள் — சுவர்க்கம் முதலிய லோகங்களில் வசிக்கிற; அமரர்கள் வேதனை தீர — தேவர்களின் துன்பங்கள் தீர; முன் மண் கொள் — முன்பு பூமியில் வாழும்; வசுதேவர் தம் மகனாய் வந்து — வசுதேவர் மகனாகப் பிறந்து; திண் கொள் — வலிமை கொண்ட; அசுரரை தேய — அசுரர்கள் அழிய; வளர்கின்றான் — வளர்கிற கண்ணபிரானின்; கண்கள் இருந்தவா காணீரே — கண் அழகைப் பாரீர்; கனவளையீர்! — தங்கவளையல்கள் அணிந்துள் பெண்களே; வந்து காணீரே! — வந்து பாரீர்!

kaṉaval̤aiyīr! — o women who wear golden bangles!; kaṇkal̤ iruntavā kāṇīre — look at the beauty of the eyes; val̤arkiṉṟāṉ — of the growing Kannan; amararkal̤ vetaṉai tīra — who alleviated the troubles of the Devas; viṇ kŏl̤ — who lives in the heavenly realms; muṉ maṇ kŏl̤ — previously lived on Earth; vacutevar tam makaṉāy vantu — born as the son of Vasudeva; tiṇ kŏl̤ — who possessed great strength and; acurarai teya — destroyed the demons; vantu kāṇīre! — come and see!
