யாங்கள் சிறுமியர்: எங்களை ஏன் துன்புறுத்துகிறாய்?

520 பேதம்நன்கறிவார்களோடு இவைபேசினால்பெரிதிஞ்சுவை *
யாதுமொன்றறியாதபிள்ளைகளோமை நீநலிந்தென்பயன்? *
ஓதமாகடல்வண்ணா! உன்மணவாட்டிமாரொடுசூழறும் *

520 petam naṉku aṟivārkal̤oṭu * ivai peciṉāl pĕritu iṉ cuvai *
yātum ŏṉṟu aṟiyāta pil̤l̤aika l̤omai * nī nalintu ĕṉ payaṉ? **
ota mā kaṭalvaṇṇā! * uṉ maṇa vāṭṭimārŏṭu cūzhaṟum *
cetu-pantam tiruttiṉāy! * ĕṅkal̤ ciṟṟil vantu citaiyele (7) **

Simple Translation

520. If you talk to people who understand what you say, that will be all right, but if you talk to us who are young and don’t know anything, it just hurts us. What do you gain from that? O! the One having the color of the wide sounding ocean the One who built the bridge Sethu! Don’t come and destroy our little sand houses.
