திருமாலின் திருவடிகளையே யான் சூடுவேன்

2338 பொலிந்திருண்டகார்வானில் மின்னேபோல்தோன்றி *
மலிந்துதிருவிருந்தமார்வன் * - பொலிந்து
கருடன்மேற்கொண்ட கரியான்கழலே *
தெருடன்மேற்கண்டாய்தெளி.

Simple Translation

2338. With beautiful Lakshmi on his chest he is like lightning shining in the dark sky. People should understand that worshiping the feet of the dark god who rides on Garudā is the only devotion they need.

இருண்ட கார் — இருள் சூழ்ந்த கார்காலத்தில்; பொலிந்து — உண்டான; வானில் — மேகத்தில்; மின்னே — மின்னல்; போல் தோன்றி — போல் தோன்றி; திரு — திருமகளானவள்; மலிந்து — பெருமையுடன்; இருந்த — வாழும்; மார்வன் — மார்பையுடைய பெருமான்; பொலிந்த — பிரகாசமாக விளங்கும்; கருடன் மேல் — கருடன் மேல் பவனி வரும்; கரியான் — கருமை நிற; கொண்ட — பெருமானின்; கழலே — திருவடிகளே; தெருள் — ஞானத்திற்கு மேற்பட்ட; தன் மேல் — பக்திக்கு உகந்தது; தெளி கண்டாய் — என்று தெரிந்து கொள்

thiru — pirātti; polindhu iruṇda kār — being very dark during rainy season; vānil — among the cloud; minnĕ pŏl thŏnṛi — daśśling like lightning; malindhu irundha mārvan — one who has the divine chest in which she resides with pride; polindha garudan mĕl koṇda — conducting garuda; kariyān — emperumān who is of dark complexion; kazhalĕ — only the divine feet; therul̤ than mĕl — is the matter for devotion, which is superior to knowledge; thel̤i kaṇdāy — (ŏh heart!) be clear on this.
