Simple Translation

2094. They who were born as people in ancient times, recited the sastras and the Vedās in the proper way and worshiped him with the correct rules became the excellent gods and reached the feet of the lord adorned with a thulasi garland.

முன்னம் — அநாதி காலமாக; இயல் அமரர் — தகுதியுடைய நித்யசூரிகள்; ஈன் துழாயான் — அழகிய துளசி மாலையை அணிந்த; அடிக்கே செல்ல — பெருமானின் திருவடிகளை அணுக; இயல்வாக முயல்வார் — முயற்சி செய்வார்கள்; இயல்வாக — நம்போன்றவர்களும்; நீதியால் ஓதி — முறைப்படி திருநாமங்களை ஓதி; நியமங்களால் — சாஸ்த்திர விதிப்படி; பரவ — அவனைப் பாடிப் புகழ்ந்தால்; அவர் ஆதியாய் — அந்த எம்பெருமான் நம்மையும்; நின்றார் — ஏற்றுக் கொள்ள முற்படுகிறான்

An inquiry was put forth to the Āzhvār, questioning the nature of attainment. "For you, O Āzhvār," it was said, "your sacred tongue will praise none other than Sriman Nārāyaṇa. This appears effortless. Yet, for others who are bound, the attempts to attain Him seem to demand total, arduous involvement. Is such attainment even possible for them?"
