நின் பெருமையை விரும்பினால் ÷க்ஷமம் உண்டாகும்

2216 இனிதென்பர்காமம் அதனிலுமாற்ற *
இனிதென்பர் தண்ணீருமெந்தாய்! * - இனிதென்று
காமநீர்வேளாது நின்பெருமைவேட்பரேல் *
சேமநீராகும்சிறிது.

Simple Translation

2216. People say passion is sweet but water is sweeter. O father, if people do not want passion or water and only listen to your heroism that will be the water that protects them.

எந்தாய்! — என் ஸ்வாமியே!; காமம் — பாமரர்கள் சப்தாதி விஷயங்களை; இனிது என்பர் — போக்யமானது என்பர்; தண்ணீரும் — தண்ணீர்; அதனிலும் — சப்தாதி விஷயங்களைக் காட்டிலும்; ஆற்ற இனிது என்பர் — போக்யமானது என்பர்; காமம் — கீழான காமத்தையும்; நீர் — தண்ணீரையும்; இனிது என்று — போக்யம் என்று அதில்; வேளாது — ஈடுபடாமல்; நின் பெருமை — உன் பெருமையில்; சிறிது — சிறிதேனும்; வேட்பரேல் — ஈடுபடுவார்களேயாகில்; சேம நீர் ஆகும் — உலகம் உய்வு பெறும்

endhāy — ŏh my l̤ord!; kāmam — lowly pursuits such as ṣabdham etc (five sensory perceptions such as sound etc); inidhu enbar — will consider as fit to be enjoyed; thaṇṇīr adhanilum āṝa inidhu enbar — will say that water is sweeter than those pursuits such as ṣabdham etc; kāmam nīr — the lowly pursuits and water, mentioned above; inidhu enṛu vĕl̤ādhu — without desiring them as being enjoyable; nin perumai siṛidhu vĕtpar ĕl — if they desire even a little bit, you as being enjoyable; sĕmam nīr āgum — (in all situations) will have the characteristic of protecting [them]
