Simple Translation

2198. Indra, the king of the gods, and Nānmuhan on a lotus worshiped him and asked him to help them when they were in trouble. Like them, Shivā with thick matted hair adorned with the crescent moon went to Thirumāl, asked for his aid and received his grace when the skull of Nānmuhan was stuck to his hand. Who but our lord could have helped them all?

வானவர் — தேவர்கட்குத் தலைவனான; கோன் — இந்திரனும்; மா மலரோன் — நாபிக்கமலத்தில் தோன்றிய பிரமனும்; சுற்றும் வணங்கும் — பக்கங்களில் சூழ்ந்து நின்று; தொழிலானை மாலை — வணங்கத்தக்க திருமாலை; கொண்டு — மனதில் கொண்டு வணங்கினர்; ஒற்றைப் பிறை இருந்த — ஒற்றைப் பிறைச் சந்திரனை; செஞ்சடையான் — சடைமுடியில் தரித்த சிவன்; பின் சென்று இரந்து — பின் பக்கம் சென்று வணங்கி; குறை தான் — தன் குறைகளை; முடித்தான் — தீர்த்துக்கொண்டான்; இயல் ஆவர் — ஆதலால் நம்மைக் காக்க; மற்று — அந்த எம்பெருமானைத் தவிர; ஆர் — வேறு யாருளர்?

vānavar kŏn — indhra, the head of all celestial entities; mā malarŏn — brahmā, who dwells on the lotus flower, shooting out of emperumān’s navel; suṝum vaṇangum thozhilānai — one who has activities such that he is surrounded on the sides and worshipped [by the above-mentioned entities]; mālai — emperumān; koṇdu — keeping (in the heart); oṝai piṛai irundha senjadaiyān — rudhra who is having reddish matted hair and who dons moon with single kalā (phase of the moon); pin senṛu — following [emperumān]; irandhu — begging him; kuṛai — his shortcoming (of brahmahaththi dhŏsham, the fault of removing one of brahmā’s heads); thān mudiththān — he completed his task; iyal āvār — apt to be attained; maṝu ār — who else is there, apart from sarvĕṣvaran (supreme being)?

maṟṟar iyalāvār – Is there anyone apart from the Sarveśvaran, Emperumān, who is known? None other than Emperumān is fit to be attained, for He alone is supremely apt for this purpose.

vāṉavarkōṉ māmalarōṉ – Indra, the sovereign of the devas (celestial beings), and Brahmā, who resides in the lotus that emerges from Emperumān's navel, are exalted entities
