கண்ணனை அன்னை கன்றின்பின் போக்கியதெண்ணி மனம் இரங்குதல் ஆயர் குலக் கொழுந்து ?

234 அஞ்சனவண்ணனை ஆயர்கோலக்கொழுந்தினை *
மஞ்சனமாட்டி மனைகள்தோறும்திரியாமே *
கஞ்சனைக்காய்ந்த கழலடிநோவக்கன்றின்பின் *
என்செயப்பிள்ளையைப்போக்கினேன்? எல்லேபாவமே. (2)

Simple Translation

234. Yashodā says, “I bathed the dear kohl-colored child of the cowherd clan in turmeric water and sent him out to go behind the calves because I didn’t want him wandering from house to house. But how could I send my child who fought Kamsan without worrying that his ankleted feet would hurt as he went behind the calves? O, What a terrible thing have I done!”

அஞ்சன — மைபோன்ற கருத்த; வண்ணனை — நிறத்தையுடையவனை; ஆயர் குல — ஆயர் குல; கொழுந்தினை — தலைவனை; மஞ்சனம் ஆட்டி — நீராட்டி; மனைகள் தோறும் — மற்றவர்கள் வீடுகளுக்கு; திரியாமே — சென்று திரிந்துகொண்டிராமல் இருக்க; கஞ்சனை — கம்சனை; காய்ந்த — உதைத்த; கழல் அடி — வீரகழல் அணிந்த; நோவ — பாதங்கள் நோக; கன்றின் பின் — மாடு மேய்க்க போவென்று; என்செயப் பிள்ளையை — ஏனோ குழந்தையை; போக்கினேன் — அனுப்பினேன்; எல்லே பாவமே! — அந்தோ என்னபாவம் செய்தேனோ!
