Avathārikai
Certain worldly souls, bound by the cycle of saṁsāra, approached the Āzhvār with a profound inquiry. “O revered one,” they asked, “what is the sublime reason for your exalted state, which allows you to boldly declare, enakkāvār ār oruvarē (‘who indeed is my equal?’), while we remain in a lowly condition, as if we are mere objects for sale (vilaikkātpaduvar)?
