வைகுந்தம் தருபவன் ஆழியான்

2400 தவஞ்செய்து நான்முகனால்பெற்றவரத்தை *
அவஞ்செய்த ஆழியாயன்றே * உவந்தெம்மைக்
காப்பாய்நீ காப்பதனையாவாய்நீ * வைகுந்தம்
ஈப்பாயுமெவ்வுயிர்க்கும்நீ.

Simple Translation

2400. You with a discus destroyed the boons that Hiranyan and other Asurans received doing tapas to Nanmuhan, and you are pleased to protect and save us. Since you are the protector of all creatures, even a fly that worships you will go to Vaikuntam.

Detailed Explanation

Avathārikai (Introduction)

In this verse, the Āzhvār extends his heartfelt petition to Śrīman Nārāyaṇa, beseeching the Lord to fulfill his own spiritual aspirations, just as He unfailingly protects the celestial entities, including Brahmā and other devatās who possess but limited knowledge. The Āzhvār thoughtfully observes the very nature of these celestial beings.
