எங்கள் நரகத்தை ஒழித்தவன் திருமாலே

Simple Translation

2328. O lord with beautiful eyes, when Mahābali promised to give you three feet of land you took it and grew tall and measured the whole earth and the sky. Adorned with a thulasi garland, you split open the mouth of Kesa when he came as a horse. You close the door of hell and save us so we do not enter it.

In this sublime verse, the revered Āzhvār reveals a profound truth concerning the divine nature of our Lord. It is Emperumān, the Supreme Being who graciously fulfilled the heartfelt desires of the celestial devas, who also, in His infinite compassion, descends to remove the formidable enemies of even the most lowly souls such as ourselves.
