2294 படிவட்டத்தாமரை பண்டுலகம்நீரேற்று *
அடிவட்டத்தாலளப்ப நீண்ட - முடிவட்டம் *
ஆகாயமூடறுத்து அண்டம்போய்நீண்டதே *
மாகாயமாய்நின்றமாற்கு.

Simple Translation

2294. In ancient times when Thirumāl went to Mahābali’s sacrifice as a dwarf, took water in his hands and asked for three feet of land and received it, he grew tall and measured the world and his crown split the sky.

பண்டு — முன்னொரு காலத்தில்; உலகம் — மகாபலியிடம் பூமியை; நீர் ஏற்று — தானமாகப் பெற்று; தாமரை — தாமரை மலர் போல்; படி வட்ட — வட்டமாக இருக்கும் பூமியை; அடி வட்டத்தால் — திருவடியினால்; அளப்ப — அளப்பதற்காக; மா — பெரிய; காயமாய் — திருமேனியாய் திருவிக்ரமனாய்; நின்ற — வளர்ந்து நின்ற; மாற்கு — எம்பெருமானுடைய; நீண்ட முடி வட்டம் — நீண்ட முடி வட்டமானது; ஆகாயம் — மேலுலகங்களின்; ஊடறுத்து — வழியாகச் சென்று; அண்டம் போய் — அண்ட கடாஹத்தளவாக; நீண்டதே! — வளர்ந்ததே! என்ன ஆச்சர்யம்!

paṇdu — in an earlier time; ulagam nīrĕṝu — obtaining earth as gift (from mahābali); thāmarai padi vattam — earth which is like a blossomed lotus, round in shape; adi vattaththāl al̤appa — to measure with the divine feet which are like involuted lotus; mā kāyamāy ninṛa māṛku — for emperumān who stood with a huge form (as thrivikrama); nīṇda mudivattam — the long crown; āgāyam ūdaṛuththu — piercing the sky (and the outer worlds); aṇdam pŏy nīṇdadhĕ — did they not grow until the walls of the universe! ḥow amaśing is this!
